Level 6 BSc (Hons) Event Operations & Production Management student Sidney Woodward and BA (Hons) Events Management students Abi Courage and Luke Boyd have been recognised in the recent Association for Events Management Education (AEME) Student Awards 2024. The awards are judged against entries from events management courses across the UK and beyond, with nominees entered by AEME members to recognise their students’ achievements. Five of our students were entered for awards this year, with three winning awards.

We are delighted that Sid was recognised as Student of the Year 2024. Sid said, “I'm honoured to have been nominated for the Best Festival Sector Focus Award, and to have won the Student of the Year Award from AEME. This is a testament to the hard work and determination that both myself and the teaching team from UKCEM have put into events management education. It came as a surprise, and I am elated to have received such esteemed recognition."

Abi said, “I am truly honoured to have been nominated for the Best Conference and Exhibitions Sector Focus and Student of the Year 2024 at the AEME Awards 2024. My placement year in International Currency, ID and High Security Printing Conference Management was an extremely fun, challenging and eye-opening year that I was able to take my knowledge, experience and research interests from into my final year and put my all into completing my degree to the best of my ability. I am thrilled to have won the Best Conference and Exhibition Sector Focus as a result of my time at Reconnaissance International and I am excited to be starting my postgraduate job with them very soon.”

Luke won the AEME Award for Best Corporate Events Sector Focus. He said, “I am thrilled to have won the AEME award. I can't thank you and the UK Centre for Events Management team enough for providing me with the opportunities to network with professionals this year. Without the incredible team's support, winning this prestigious award wouldn't have been possible!”

Head of UK Centre for Events Management, Dr James Musgrave, added, “We are delighted that our students are being recognised by AEME against their peers for their outstanding achievements. Each of our students is a worthy winner in their own right, based on their academic achievement, events industry engagement and professional experience gained during their course. For Sid to have won Student of the Year is a great achievement and recognition of the outstanding calibre of our students and graduates. Congratulations to all of them, we are very proud and look forward to seeing their careers develop in the years ahead.”
