Sport Management lecturer blends FA media coaching with curriculum practice
Bryn Law, a Sports Management Lecturer, draws on nearly 20 years of experience with FA Wales, providing elite coaches with media training to preparing students for real-world challenges and self-marketing.
Sports Management Lecturer Bryn Law, has spent nearly 20 years working with the FA Wales' Pro and A Licence coaching courses, offering bespoke media training to elite coaches from around the world. Bryn’s work integrates real-world experience and personal research, tailoring sessions for candidates like World Cup winners, Premier League managers, and top academy coaches.
Having transitioned into academia after leaving Sky, Bryn draws on his extensive media and coaching background to prepare students for industry challenges. His unique curriculum emphasises flexibility, ensuring students are well-prepared for real-world scenarios. Bryn’s work bridges professional networks and academic theory, creating a dynamic learning environment where students engage with the latest industry developments.
A significant element of this is what Bryn describes as ‘building your brand’. As someone who’s had a public profile for many years, the exploration of self-marketing potential is something he critically discusses with students in supporting their employability. Bryn states: “Bringing to life my experience in working with elite organisations and individuals, I innovate with real-world challenges, stay current with industry trends, and adapt quickly in a fast-changing environment where often lags behind reality”.
His recent A Licence session featured football stars like Pepe Reina, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Nani, continuing his passion for helping others excel at the highest levels of sport.
Teaching on the BA (Hons) Sport Marketing and BA (Hons) Sport Business Management programs, he combines practical insights with industry trends, helping students build professional networks and develop vital skills for the sports industry. His real-world approach equips students to excel in a fast-changing environment. This approach is highly effective because it bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world practice and creates a dynamic learning environment, giving students a competitive edge.
