Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

What were you doing before becoming a postgraduate student?

I was an undergraduate student at Leeds Beckett University.

What reasons motivated you to consider studying a postgraduate course?

I wanted to develop my knowledge of business and management within the sport sector. This seemed like the best way for me to see both sides of sport, the business side as well as the actual sporting side of everything.

Why did you choose to study your postgraduate degree at Leeds Beckett University?

I did my undergraduate degree here and decided I wanted to stay on and continue studying here for my postgraduate degree.

What were the challenges or obstacles you had to overcome to become a postgraduate student?

Writing a dissertation during the start of COVID was tough as there were limitations on the resources we could physically access and the practical experiments that could be conducted was also very limited, so I had to do the best I could with the limitations.

How would you describe your experience as a postgraduate student and what was the highlight?

It was an odd experience. As it was during COVID and I didn't see many people unfortunately. However, it did give me extra time to study and get the best grade possible. COVID aside, I believe it would have been a very good experience to get to know more people and learn together.

How would you describe the University's facilities, teaching staff and employability and support services?

Due to COVID at the time I actually didn't use the services as much. However, if I take my undergraduate (at LBU) into account, I'd say that the facilities have improved a lot in the past few years which has been great to see and that the teaching staff know what they are talking about which helped me feel secure about the knowledge I was obtaining.

How has postgraduate study benefitted your career? What impact have you experienced after your course?

A masters stands out for job opportunities and having the opportunity to secure an internship during that tougher year helped me gain valuable experience whilst studying which I appreciate to this day.

Would you recommend postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett? Please explain.

I would definitely recommend. LBU has great teaching staff and a good selection of internship opportunities in and around Leeds!

How would you describe your postgraduate experience in five words?

Tough time but worth it!

What advice would you give to someone considering postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett?

Think about your options and what you want to get into in the future before doing anything as this helped me stay on track. It's a lot of hard work completing a postgraduate degree but if you put your mind to it, it'll be worth it in the long run!
