Leeds Law School students meet Law Society president

This September, a group of ten Law students met the President of the Law Society of England and Wales, Nick Emmerson, during a trip to London. 

The students also had a tour of Middle Temple – one of the four Inns of Court which has the right to Call members to the Bar.

Daisy Livingstone, a third year LLB (Hons) Law student who took part in the trip, commented: “The tour of Middle Temple was incredible. I gained an invaluable insight into the application process and interview stage for the Bar Practice Course scholarships, as well as some extremely useful tips for obtaining pupillage in the future.

“I also obtained helpful tips regarding interview techniques which I can use in my own future interviews. Furthermore, I was able to network with legal professionals which I otherwise would have not had the opportunity to do.”

Daisy also had the chance to talk with Nick Emmerson. She said: 

“Meeting Nick Emmerson was a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the legal profession, as well as the range of opportunities that are available within it. This included discussions around equality and diversity, as well as advice on how best to stand out in such a competitive profession.

“Opportunities like this are extremely important as they help inspire and motivate you in working towards achieving success in your chosen profession.”

The Law Society President represents the independent professional body for solicitors across England and Wales. Nick Emmerson said: 

“It was great to meet such bright and positive students.  I wish them success whether in the solicitors’ profession or at the bar."
