Leeds Law School students visit Lincoln's Inn
Every year, a group of Leeds Law School students visit Lincoln’s Inn – one of the four Inns of Court in London, dedicated to the qualification, training and development of its members. In this blog, we hear from a couple of the students who visited this year.
On 26 February 2025, a group of undergraduate law students visited Lincoln’s Inn in London. They met practising barristers and heard from a panel of speakers covering topics such as their personal journeys, securing pupillage and top tips to success.
First year LLB (Hons) Law student Max Hutt was one of the students who attended. He said: “I am truly grateful for the incredible opportunity I had to visit The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. The experience was remarkable, engaging with legal professionals like Mr. Justice Nicholas Cusworth, Karen Kabweru-Namulemu, Jack Meek, Ilsu Ari, Georgina Freeman, and all the barristers present.
“I’m grateful for their one-on-one conversations and the panel discussions providing invaluable insights into the journey to the Bar. The event was not only inspiring but also engaging, offering firsthand knowledge from those actively working in the field.
“The atmosphere was welcoming, and it was a privilege to learn from these professionals. I left feeling motivated and enthusiastic about continuing my legal journey. Thank you to Lincoln’s Inn and everyone involved for such a fantastic event.”

Adelina Skarra, a second year Law student, said: “Our visit to the Lincoln’s Inn offered a great insight into the path to the bar and the day-to-day of practicing barristers, judges, and pupil barristers. Each aspect offered invaluable insight or advice that I have been able to take on board and will implement when the time comes.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner at the end of the evening. The opportunity to witness and engage with such traditions was a great experience in itself, however, it has strengthened my commitment to pursue a career at the bar even more. I had the pleasure of being seated next to pupil barrister, Georgina Freeman, who offered practical guidance and reassurance.
“The advice received off all professionals I networked with will benefit me greatly as I progress further on my journey.”

Leeds Law School offers this opportunity to students every year, as part of their ongoing commitment to providing career opportunities. Professor Deveral Capps, Dean of Leeds Law School said: “We were delighted to host the student trip to Lincoln’s Inn, where our students got a glimpse into life as a barrister from some of the best in the business.
“It’s so important our students have access to these types of experiences, adding real value to their university learning, informing and inspiring their career choices, and giving them contacts and knowledge of the working world of law.”
