Supporting student practical skills

Since the clinic re-opened in September 2021 after the pandemic, the students have worked with and helped a broad range of cases including post anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, calf injuries in gymnasts and cheerleaders, shoulder and back injuries in cricketers, shoulder/neck pain in students furiously working to complete their dissertations.

The SETC offers a vital placement experience for our sports therapy students, who must gain 200 hours placement to be eligible for membership of The Society of Sports Therapists upon graduation.

Working under the supervision of professionally qualified and experienced teaching staff, who understand the course and curriculum content, the students quickly gain in both practical skills and confidence. By using the SETC you are providing valuable experiences for the students as well as receiving a free sports therapy service.

In the clinic I've learnt a lot, being hands on. You take in a lot because you see the injury for yourself. We get a big variety of injuries through - shoulder, quads, back, elbow. Everything really.

High-quality treatment and advice

Graduates from the Sports & Exercise Therapy BSc and MSc programmes go on to work in a variety of environments such as professional sport and pitch-side work (Leeds Rhinos, Blackburn Rovers, Otley Rugby Club), the NHS and work in and establish their own private practice.

You do not have to be injured to visit the clinic and you do not have to be an athlete, we are here to help you work towards your goals and manage the physical stresses of work and study.

Definitely come down, speak to Ed in the office and he'll explain what you need to do and make sure you get the treatment you need.
