Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Push the limits of your creativity. You’ll experiment while you develop your practice on this course taught by internationally recognised artists and practitioners.

As part of this course, you’ll:

Experiment with painting, performance, installation, photography, drawing, printmaking, animation, digital processes and other media
Taught by nationally and internationally recognised artists and practitioners, who will help you to develop your artistic identity
Participate in seminars, collaborative on and off-site activities and live curatorial projects
Exhibit your projects to the public and impress industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year
Be encouraged to take a proactive approach and make your own opportunities, as you will after graduating

Your community

As a Leeds School of Arts student, you’ll join the city’s thriving visual arts scene. You could form your own collectives while you study. Past students participated in Leeds’ annual Light Night event and even set up their own galleries.

Learn from visiting artists

The INSIDE/OUT lecture series offers historical, theoretical and critical analyses of art, architecture and design. The series welcomes internationally recognised practitioners to share their practice. Find out about forthcoming events on the INSIDE/OUT webpage.

Exhibit your work

You’ll have the opportunity to exhibit your work at the annual Degree Show that’s attended by arts professionals from across the country. You can see examples of students' work on our Leeds School of Arts website and in our end of year show publication.

It was an intensely creative period of time, with many failures and some exciting successes. Many of the relationships forged at Leeds Beckett have resulted in collaborations and opportunities for me today.

entry requirements

You will require a High School Grade 12 Diploma

Grade: GPA of 3 or above

English language requirements: High School Diploma Grade 12 English Grade C and a GPA of 3 overall OR AP English Grade 3

PLUS one or more of the following qualifications:

SAT Reasoning Test
Grade: Score of 1270 (including a minimum of 650 in Reading and Writing, and 620 in Math)
English language requirements: SAT Reasoning Test 650 in Reading and Writing or SAT Subject Test 550 in English (if test was taken before June 2021)

OR

American College Testing (ACT)
Grade: Overall score of 26 or above
English language requirements: ACT score including English overall score of 26

OR

2 Advanced Placement (AP) exam results
Grade: 3 or above
English language requirements: High School Diploma Grade 12 English Grade C and a GPA of 3 overall OR AP English Grade 3

Other relevant qualifications may also be considered as part of your application.
