NHS Chairman to talk leadership at Leeds Beckett
The Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare, Professor Dean Fathers, will debate leadership and strategy when he hosts a talk at Leeds Beckett University.
The event, which is part of a series of guest lectures held by Leeds Business School and sponsored by Yorkshire Bank, is free, and open to the public. The session will run from 5.30pm-7pm on Tuesday 3 February at the University's Rose Bowl.
In what is now an annual link-up between the Institute of Directors and Leeds Beckett University, this lecture will look to draw on the experiences of Professor Fathers in relation to leadership development and governance.
Professor Fathers, who became Chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare in January 2011, commented: “I am delighted to be part of this event; leadership development and governance are two of our strengths at Nottinghamshire Healthcare. Both are critical to the delivery of high quality, safe and effective services. We are committed to leadership development and offer a variety of specialist programmes to grow the key skills of leaders and our future leaders in the Trust. We know from research and our own experience that a well-led team gets the most out of staff and delivers a better experience and outcomes for all. I look forward to being able to share our experiences at this annual lecture.”
A Professor in Practice of Healthcare Management at Cass Business School Dean is also: a Professorial Fellow with the Institute of Mental Health; Vice Chair of the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network; and Chair of the Steering Group, ‘National evaluation review of Schwartz Round Centres’ at King’s College, London.
Paul Houghton, Principal Lecturer in Leeds Beckett’s Faculty of Business and Law, added: “Dean Fathers has a wealth of experience in a range of organisations from blue-chips in the private sector and national Government departments and agencies, to medium-sized private, entrepreneurial companies. He is also an accomplished director, having held numerous executive and non-executive board positions. We’d like to welcome members of the public and business community, as well as Leeds Beckett students and staff to what promises to be yet another great guest lecture event.”
The remaining speakers in the lecture series are: Chris Clements, Partner at chartered accountants Grant Thornton on Tuesday 17 February; Dominic Tweddle, Director General of the National Museum of the Royal Navy on Tuesday 3 March; Sara and Andy Micklethwaite, who joined forces and bought food chain Bagel Nash in 2011 on Tuesday 21 April and Kirsty Bashforth, Group Head of Organisational Effectiveness at BP on Tuesday 5 May.
