Leeds Beckett students qualify for Network of International Business Schools Worldwide Case Competition championship round
The championship round of this prestigious event takes place from Sunday 26 February – Saturday 4 March and is hosted by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in Rauma, Finland.
This year’s qualifying round has been highly competitive and our students are one of only 15 teams who have been successful in reaching the final. The students who will be representing Leeds Beckett are: BA (Hons) Business & Management undergraduate, Jasmine Tamer and Alex Johnston, Matt Luczynski and Hayley Ward, all BA (Hons)International Business students.
The competition will test students problem-solving ability, business acumen, cultural insight, communication skills and teamwork. Participants have a limited time to analyse written business cases, assess the challenges facing the organisation, and present recommendations to panels of senior managers, policymakers and academics. The tasks will be undertaken as a series of head-to-head match-ups over the course of the week and operate on a knockout basis.
Dean of Leeds Business School, Dr George Lodorfos, said: “I would like to congratulate our students in reaching this stage of the competition. This is a great achievement and the School wishes them the best of luck.”
Student Alex said: "I am delighted to have got through to the next round, the fact that it is based in Finland will certainly make this an exciting and unforgettable experience. I am fully confident in our abilities and performance to go far in this year’s NIBS competition."
Team mate Matt commented: “I’m really looking forward to the NIBS challenge. Strategy is something I’ve had to implement more and more in my own business, so it will be good to see how others approach this. We have a very strong team which our qualification round proved, we as Leeds Business School have a place on the world stage.”
Hayley added: “I’m excited to be representing the University in Finland. The NIBS competition is an amazing way to finish my final year at Leeds Beckett. Our team all excel in different aspects of the project and I can’t wait to compete in the final round!”
