Team Leader of the Year award for Sally Bogg
IT Services’ Sally Bogg was named Team Leader of the Year at the 2019 FDM everywoman in Technology Awards.
The awards celebrated the achievements of 14 women from a range of disciplines and backgrounds – and Sally was one of only a handful few representing higher education.
Sally, Head of Service Management in IT Services, said: “As a passionate supporter of the empowerment and enhancement of Women in Technology I was thrilled to have been nominated for this award and then shocked and delighted to have won.
“The competition was extremely fierce and I was up against some phenomenal women who are doing amazing work within the sector. I am really proud to have been able to fly the flag for the education sector as a whole and as an alumni of Leeds Beckett University I am proud to represent the institution that gave me the opportunity to start a successful career in tech.
“I am so thankful and grateful for all the support I receive from both my colleagues in the department but also the wider University.”
Sally - also an alumna of the university - left school at the age of 17, before returning to education as a mature student at the age of 25, with three young children.
The first of her family to attend university, she graduated in computing in 2006, and has inspired her children and husband to follow her lead and continue their studies.
Sally contributes to the Women in Leadership student initiative at Leeds Beckett and is a passionate supporter of women in tech. She hosted the Service Desk Institute’s Gender Equality in ITSM event in June 2018 and was chair of the University and Colleges Information Systems Association (UCISA) Support Services Group for three years during which time she founded the UCISA Women in Tech Group. Sally was a finalist in the Women in IT Awards earlier this year and won last year’s IT Business Role Model of the Year at the same awards.
