Lecturer to lead sessions at international European Radiation Oncology Conference
A Leeds Beckett University academic will direct part of a major conference held in Vienna.
The European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) event, which will take place from 5th-9th May, will see Senior lecturer in Psychology from School of Social Sciences, Dr Trish Holch run a day-long clinical pre-meeting course alongside Professor Cai Grau from Aarhus University Hospital Denmark.
Dr Holch, said: “The overall aim of the course is provide an overview of the current and potential future roles of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in radiotherapy.
“Professor Grau and I have brought together a distinguished faculty of PROM researchers and clinicians from within and outside the radiotherapy community.”
During the session, Dr Holch will discuss topics including: the added value of electronic PROMs in relation to studies completed at the Patient Reported Outcomes Group (POG) at the University of Leeds for reporting radiotherapy adverse events; the importance of patient understanding of PROM questions; the standard of PROM reporting in clinical trials; and how to integrate PROMs successfully into clinical practice.
In addition the course will cover the direction and research priorities and potential applications of PROM data in radiotherapy practice.
