University leaps up in graduate employment and student satisfaction league tables
The University gained an overall satisfaction rating of 84.8%, lifting it to 36th out of 121 English institutions in the rankings, up from 50th in 2018. In the graduate employment league tables it has climbed by 33 places in the last 12 months alone.
It was further boosted by the news that fifteen courses were given 100% Overall Satisfaction by final year students and a further 23 gained over 90%.
This year’s results are especially important following the significant impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on school leavers. For the first time A-level results are being determined on a ‘calculated’ basis by teachers and tutors.
This, combined with the questions over the delivery of the teaching experience in September, has created uncertainty among applicants. Research by the Russell Trust suggests over a fifth of prospective students (22%) could defer going to university and show a 25% chance they would consider switching their university (through Clearing).
Despite this, the results come as UCAS (The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) has reported the highest number of overall applicants in four years and that a record 40.5% of all UK 18 year olds have applied to study at university this year.
Professor Peter Slee, Vice Chancellor of Leeds Beckett said the latest results demonstrated the confidence and reassurance that students can expect high-quality education, a rewarding experience and long-term employment opportunities by studying at Leeds Beckett University.
“Every year, the University’s graduates include the next generation of teachers, nurses, social workers, lawyers and many other front-line workers whose expertise benefits individuals, communities and wider society.
“In 2020, we want to reassure students that they will receive an unchanged curriculum and continued opportunities to experience vocational and applied learning.”
With this in mind, Leeds Beckett is launching a campaign aimed at providing information and reassurance to parents and students to help them through the A-level results and Clearing period. ‘Let’s do this together’ will seek to answer questions and bring to life the student experience by delivering a mix of integrated content, combined with an innovative virtual event with a live Clearing Q&A.
