Events Management students at the MOBO awards
The MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) awards is held every year to recognise music talent from across the world for having impact and influence in the music community.
Stephanie Herbst Farley, events management student, said: "I was blown away by the amount of responsibility that we were given as a team. It felt like we were a valued member of the team instead of a just another pair of hands."
We had a group of 15 level 6 Event Management students who were able to work with the accreditation, building, and floor management teams doing various jobs around the front of house and VIP stewarding. We also brought about 150 level 4 students to be in the choreographed audience sitting amongst the stars. The groups were a big help to the MOBO event managers during this exciting opportunity.
In 2013, Piers Aggett and Kesi Dryden (Rudimental) won the MOBO Award for Best Album. This year we were lucky to have a past graduate nominated again; Andrea Triyani, who was nominated for best RNB/Soul Act.
Eunice Obianagha & Jennifer Tang, MOBO Event Managers said: “It was an absolute pleasure to have a group of Leeds Beckett's Event Management course students join our event team on short-term contracts this year. From start to finish they were diligent and an absolute pleasure to work with. The strong work ethic of the students and tutors involved are a credit to the university.”
This year’s MOBOs are another great example of all the hard work our current students and graduates have been doing for the music and events industries. Well done to everyone involved!
