Leeds Beckett opens its doors for postgraduate and research open day
Taking place on Wednesday 28 November from 16:30 to 19:00, at both the university’s city centre and Headingley campuses, visitors will have the chance to find out more about how further study can benefit them in advancing their career, changing direction or pursuing a lifelong passion.
Visitors will be able to meet academics from the postgraduate and professional courses taught at Leeds Beckett, or talk to the University’s research office. Specialist staff will also be on hand to offer advice around the application process and funding, including the government loans available for postgraduate study of £10,609, and employer sponsorship.
There are more than 200 postgraduate course options available at Leeds Beckett, including part-time and distance learning. Visitors will be able to attend a range of course taster sessions, lectures and specialist facility tours, and get a taste of student life at the University by attending an introductory talk.

MA Strategic and Digital Marketing student, Henna Chopra, said: “My journey with Leeds Becket University has been both exciting and challenging at the same time. The decision to pursue my masters at this university has been the best decision of my career. My advice to any student would be to make the best use of all the opportunities provided to you by Leeds Beckett. You may be surprised to find the extent of your own capabilities!”
MSc Criminology student, Anna Perfitt said: “I went to the open day at Leeds Beckett and spoke to the lecturers about the field I was interested in. While I was there I came across lecturers from Criminology and actually decided, through conversation with them, that that was the real field of study that was most interesting to me.”
Chris Brady, UK Marketing Manager at Leeds Beckett, added: “There are many reasons why people should visit us for our Open Day. If you are looking to progress in your career, earn more money, change direction or simply want to gain more knowledge in an area that interests you, this is an opportunity to talk to our academic staff and plan your next steps.
“We’ve seen an increase in attendance at our postgraduate events in recent years and we know that this is in part down to the introduction of the postgraduate loans in 2016. Anyone who wants to know more about the government-backed loans of up to £10,609 can come and talk to our specialist advisors at our open day.”
