Leeds Beckett graduate wins second place at BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards
Alistair, who graduated in 2013 with a MSc Finance, finished second to Andy Murray, who won the title for a record third time.
Alistair became the first man to retain the Olympic triathlon title in Rio at the 2016 Olympic Games, finishing ahead of his brother Jonny, who claimed the silver.

Murray, who also won Sports Personality of the Year in 2013 and 2015, took the title after claiming Olympic gold, winning a second Wimbledon title and finishing the year as world number one.
The Scotsman received 247,419 votes whilst Leeds Beckett graduate Alistair received 121,665 votes.
Speaking about his time studying at the University on graduation in 2013, Alistair said: “I’ve learnt a lot, as well as just the studying, which has been valuable and I hope to use it at a later point in my career.”

Nick Skelton who took individual show jumping gold at Rio 2016 finished in third place whilst Leeds Beckett graduates Kadeena Cox and Dame Sarah Storey were among the 16 nominees.
Other winners on the night included Ellie Robinson who won Young Sports Personality of the Year, Leicester City who won Team of the Year alongside their coach Claudio Ranieri, who won Coach of the Year. Michael Phelps was given the Lifetime Achievement award, Simone Biles named Overseas Sports Personality of the Year.
Boxing club founder Marcellus Baz was Sport's Unsung Hero whilst the Helen Rollason award went to charity runner Ben Smith.
