Their work as Audio Leads on the game The Ascent is nominated in the Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing (Game Audio) category. The Ascent is recognised alongside other well-known games such as Halo Infinite and Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Joe Thom, who also completed his MSc in Sound and Music for Interactive Games at Leeds Beckett University, said: “We're absolutely overjoyed to be nominated for a Golden Reel. The entire team at Sweet Justice Sound, as well as the talented developers at Neon Giant, put a huge effort into The Ascent, so it's wonderful that it's receiving such a positive response.
“I'm also incredibly grateful to the staff at Leeds Beckett for providing the guidance and support that undoubtedly helped me reach this point in my career.”
Dr Richard Stevens, Course Director for the postgraduate programmes in music and sound at Leeds Beckett University, said: “We’re incredibly proud here at Leeds Beckett of Stefan and Joe on this nomination.
“It’s amazing to see how they’ve built on the specialist teaching in video game sound during their studies to go on and be nominated for this international, prestigious award alongside films like Dune and other video games like Halo Infinite. Very well done to both – and good luck!”
