Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller collaborated with Leeds Beckett for exhibition
Created with Leeds School of Arts' Professor Fraser Muggeridge and curated by Dr Mathieu Copeland with the support of MA Fine Art students, the free exhibition at Leeds Beckett University's White Column Gallery offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Deller's distinctive artistic vision.
The exhibition was inspired by Andy Warhol's famous (mis)quote that "everyone will be famous for 15 minutes".
Jeremy Deller, who won the Turner Prize in 2004 for his poignant work 'Memory Bucket', has reshaped the landscape of contemporary art with his innovative projects and exhibitions. Known for his tendency to blur the boundaries of conventional gallery spaces, Deller has a history of captivating audiences with his thought-provoking pieces.
Dr Mathieu Copeland, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Leeds Beckett University, said: "It has been an absolute privilege to work with our MA Fine Art students on this thought-provoking piece by Turner prize winner Jeremy Deller, a new work released specifically for White Column with Professor Fraser Muggeridge as part of our MA professional practice.
"With In the future everyone will be cancelled for 15 minutes, Jeremy Deller distorts with humour and precision one of Andy Warhol's most celebrated quotes, tuning it to our present times."
The exhibition is open to the public and will run until Thursday 4 August 2024. For more information, please visit the Leeds Beckett University website and White Column's website.
