With a broad and interdisciplinary scope, the Hub explores disability across multiple areas of law, including:
- criminal law,
- tort law,
- contract law,
- health law,
- mental capacity law,
- equality and human rights law.
The hub is equally concerned with how law is practised, experienced, and taught, creating space for critical engagement with both legal doctrine and lived realities. The Hub is open to participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD researchers, and academic staff. We particularly welcome involvement from those working across disciplines, recognising that disability and law intersect with a wide range of social, political, and professional fields.
An Innovative Collaboration in Leeds
The Disability Law Hub operates as a partnership between the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University, providing a strong foundation for cross-institutional collaboration.
Through this partnership, the Hub creates opportunities to build meaningful academic and professional connections, share resources, and foster a vibrant community of scholars and students engaged in disability law and policy
Activities and Engagement
The Hub hosts a programme of events throughout the academic year designed to encourage dialogue, learning, and collaboration. This includes:
- workshops
- seminars
- general discussions engaging with contemporary issues in disability law, policy and practice
