Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Play sport for fun and fitness

Our social sport programme gives you the chance to take part in sport in a fun and relaxed environment. With over 20 sessions each week, it is the perfect opportunity to try something new and keep active whilst at university.

Registration for semester 1 Social Leagues will open on 8^th September. Deadline for entries is Sunday 5th of October.

Social Leagues

Our Social Sport Leagues are ideal if you want to play sport for fun but in a competitive environment. It’s also a great way to stay active, take a break from studies and meet new people during your time at University.

We offer two sports: 7-a-side Football and Netball. All equipment and officials are provided, along with student activators to oversee the fixtures. Teams can be made up of anyone who is part of the Leeds Beckett family, so grab your friends from halls, your course, societies, or just your mates.

All league costs are paid up front so all you need to worry about is getting to the pitch on time for your fixture.

Turn up and play

'Turn-Up and Play' offers a great way to get involved with non-competitive sports sessions with no weekly commitment. Whether you play with a group of friends or meet other likeminded individuals, Turn Up and Play is a great way to stay active and social. No booking required, space available on a fist come first served basis. All our turn up and play sessions are free with your sport membership or £3.20 without a membership.

If one off events and competitions are more your thing, we have a variety of sports events and tournaments that take place throughout the year. One of our most popular events is ‘Neon Nights’ where you can access a full week of neon sports activities.
