hybrid learning and teaching

Hybrid (also called hyflex) teaching and learning refers to scenarios in which an activity occurs simultaneously for students physically present in the classroom and for those joining remotely via an online platform, such as MS Teams.

Before considering hybrid teaching as a solution, it is recommended that you explore other forms of engagement, such as fully online delivery or recording sessions with an additional tutorial if needed. More information on designing blended delivery can be found on the Blended Learning web page.

The staff guidance in our six principles of hybrid teaching and learning document (pdf) aims to help staff consider how to maximise the learning experience for all students in a hybrid session.

Before undertaking any form of hybrid session, it is advised you contact the IT Service Desk (staff) as early as possible to discuss whether the technology you may require is available in your timetabled spaces. You may have to adapt your session dependent on what equipment is available.

If you need advice on designing a hybrid session, or have any questions about our six principles guidance document, please contact clt@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
