This staff guide explains how to apply a template within a MyBeckett Ultra module or community.

A template offers a great starting point for your content, providing a consistent structure across related modules and courses for the benefit of your students.

  • Using a template will make it easier for instructors to set up their modules / communities, and will improve the student experience by providing a consistent structure or baseline. Example templates are available.
  • If you'd like to design a template for your Course / Subject Area / School, you could use a sandpit. To request a sandpit module or community, contact the Digital Learning Service via the contact details at the bottom of this page.

If you know which template you want to apply, follow the steps below.

a. Open your Ultra module.

b. If it contains content that you don't need, the quickest way to delete this is by using the Batch Edit tool.

c. At the top right, click the More button (three dots) next to the Search tool.

d. Click Copy Items.

e. Type the name of your template. These usually contain the words "Ultra Template",

f. Tick the box to the left of the template.

g. Click Start Copy.

h. When the template has finished copying into your module, a Copy Complete message will appear.

Most templates are based on a set of content items called learning modules.

These are a bit like folders but you can add an image to a learning module and other features, such as a table of contents.

For example, you might set up learning modules for:

  • Key information
  • Teaching and learning materials
  • Assessments

You can create new content items within a learning module, or you can click and drag to drop in items that you have copied from another module.

It is important to note that:

  • You cannot drop a learning module inside another learning module.
  • However, you can convert a learning module to a folder if you wish to drop it into another learning module.
  • You can only add one level of subfolder.
