This staff guide shows you how to rollover your embedded Panopto Videos after performing a module copy to ensure students will be able to view them.

The following steps will change the viewing permissions to ensure all students will be able to watch your Panopto Video embeds in your Ultra modules.  

Follow these steps to add a Panopto Video Folder link to your Ultra module. This is an important step to ensure your video content is accessible and check that you have transferred from previous years. 

Why is this important?

  • Check video transfers copied over successfully
  • Access for Instructors (and Students if visible): a central location for all module videos 
  • Create and upload new video recordings from within your module

a. On the module content page, navigate to where you would like to add the Panopto Video Folder.

b. Click the purple plus icon.

c. Select Other Content & Tools.

d. Locate the Panopto Video Folder tool in the list and click the plus icon.

e. The Panopto Video Folder link will be added to the content page. By Default this link is hidden from students.

f. You can rename this link by clicking the 3 dots and select Edit.

g. Click the pencil icon to edit the link name. We recommend using a descriptive title for students e.g. Lecture recordings.

h. Click Save.

i. Click the Panopto Video link to open Panopto, this will configure the folder in Panopto for the module.

If you have copied over content from a previous year module and there are Panopto recordings embedded and/or links, you need contact the Digital Services to copy over all the Panopto recordings to ensure your students are able to access the recordings.

If you have recordings in your personal Panopto folder (My Folder) then copying into your module is the same process described below.

However, if you have only a few that require copying you can follow the steps below.

a. From within your Ultra Module, go to Reading Lists & Tools via the side menu.

b. Select Panopto Videos Folder.

c. Open in Panopto - A square with an arrow pop out icon (this icon is next to Subscribe button).  This will open in the full Panopto Video Folder application for the module, you will now be able to search for your previous year module recordings via the Browse option described below.

d. To locate your previous years modules to copy over, go to the menu on the left and select the Browse option.

Search for previous modules in Panopto by choosing the Browser folder in the menu to the left. Type in the name or CRN to search.

e. Search for the previous year module using the CRN or Name.

f. Find the recording you require and click on the settings cog, hover over the video tile to activate the hidden menu. 

To copy an individual recording over to another module. Hover over the Panopto video to activate the hidden menu and click on the Settings Cog to then navigate to Manage in the Menu

g. Go to Manage in the menu, and over to the Copy Video section and action the following:

  • Rename the video and/or remove the text: (copy)
  • Select from the drop down menu - Copy video to - search for the module to copy into using the CRN or module name to locate it. Ensure to select the new academic year -NB: Ensure you are selecting the main module folder and not the module title with the [Assignment] Folder. Hovering the cursor over the module names will show the full title of the module
  • Click on Create Full Copy. NB: no confirmation is given or indication this has been copied over
  • Close the window

Copy Panopto over into new module, click on the settings cog of the video.  Select Manage from the menu.  Go to section named Copy Video and Rename the New Video Name or remove the copy. Ensure you select Create Full Copy and then close the window. (No confirmation is given- to check the video is ready to embed into your new module, go to that module to embed via the Panopto Video Folder)

Either, select the next video to copy over and repeat this process or return to the MyBeckett module to view and select the Panopto Video Folder in the new module and embed it

The benefits of embedding videos into a document rather than using a link is the presentation of the video are:

  • Play in the content area or pop out into full screen
  • Add the slides of the PowerPoint presentation for students to download
  • Embed further videos, files and text on the same topic

*Ensure you have provisioned the Panopto Video Folder first by adding in the content area before proceeding. 

**Copy the recordings if stored in another module or personal folder (called My Folder)

These are the steps showing you how to embed a Panopto Video into a Document. 

a. From the content page of your module, click the plus icon.

b. Click Create

c. Choose Document and add a Content block

 Select Document and then select the type of content to add a block, choose Content (to embed a YouTube Video)   

d. Select the plus icon from the text box tool bar.

e. There are several options to select for Panopto Video.  Select Panopto Video Embed

f. Your recordings will be listed which have been added to the Panopto module folder, select and Save
