Cost of living is a lot cheaper in Leeds than other towns and cities, with a pint of beer costing on average of £2.40; you can have a decent night out for less than £20 including your taxi home!

5. Food Glorious Food

Trinity Kitchen

Brazilian, Vietnamese, Persian, Thai, Argentinian - these are just some of the options in Leeds’s amazing restaurant scene. Then there's Trinity Kitchen with its monthly rotation of the best street food vans from around the UK. And finally, no guide would be complete without the student favourite: Nando’s. We have 5 in Leeds. One for each day of the working week!

6. It's green

Students enjoying the sun on Woodhouse Moor in Leeds

Leeds has over 4,000 hectares of green space making it one of the greenest cities to live in Europe. You might think this isn't as exciting as some of the other reasons on our list, but trust us, on a sunny day there’s no better place to be than Woodhouse Moor with an ice lolly. Bliss.

7. Soak up some culture

Leeds Art Gallery

Museums aren’t just educational, they’re often free making them a perfect place for a day out when your student loan starts to run dry. We recommend the Royal Armouries (for swords, cannons and elephant armour), the Henry Moore Institute (for sculpture and culture) and finally, the Leeds City Museum where you can learn more about the city you will call home.

8. Leeds Fest

Do we even need to explain this one? Every August bank holiday over 80,000 music lovers descend on Bramham Park for a weekend of live music in the sun (or more often, mud).

9. Amazing Nightlife

Amazing student nightlife in Leeds

Leeds is renowned for its nightlife and no matter what your perfect night out looks like, there'll be a bar, pub or club for you. The city comes alive at night, with many clubs holding exclusive student nights. Then there's local favourite Call Lane where you can take your pick from a bunch of smaller bars with great atmosphere.

10. Day Trips

Students visiting the beautiful Ilkley Moor

Get on a bus, train or even your bike and you can be in the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside before you know it. There's an abundance of beautiful, small villages in the area so you're spoilt for choice when it comes to day trips. Why not spend a day in Ilkley, a quaint market town on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales, and enjoy a stroll on the Moor followed by a cup of tea and a scone in Bettys?

Hopefully that has convinced you how great student life is in Leeds. If you'd like to know a bit more, you can watch the video below to find out what our students love about Leeds, or get involved and make new friends before you arrive by liking your hall on Facebook.
