Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

It’s time for the scariest night of the year, and our round-up of the best Halloween events in Leeds should help you get your plans sorted.

Leeds is a great city with a huge selection of Halloween 2017 events to tickle your fancy. Here’s a few to get you started:

The Leeds Day of the Dead Fiesta

Sneaky Experience have created one of the best Halloween events in Leeds. They’re turning Kirkstall Abbey into The Leeds Day of the Dead Fiesta.

Release your inner spirit, remember your ancestors past, and celebrate life through laughter, dance and a show-stopping evening of raw-talent, immersive entertainment and jaw-dropping performances.

At the events heart is the cinema with a screening The Lost Boys on Friday night and Dusk Till Dawn on Saturday night. There’s much more to it than just films – there will be a Skull Parade, voodoo craft workshops, live UV art and chilling dance performances.

The Leeds Day of the Dead Fiesta is at Kirkstall Abbey from Friday 27th until Sunday 29th October.

Projekt Halloween Part 1 & Part 2

Presenting the killer combination of unparalleled production, performers, resident DJ's & special guests, Projekt are going all out for Halloween, with not one, but two events in Leeds. The first is on Saturday night, for the weekend crowd, while the second is on Halloween itself. Gruesome outfits are encouraged!
