Leeds BID
Through our strategic partnership with Leeds BID, Leeds Beckett University is creating opportunities for students and staff to contribute to the growth, vibrancy and cultural development of Leeds city centre.
From supporting student-led projects and research to developing paid work experience and placement opportunities, this collaboration connects learning with real-world impact, helping students build valuable skills while supporting the city's economic and cultural success. Together, Leeds Beckett and Leeds BID are strengthening links between higher education, business and the wider community to deliver positive outcomes for Leeds.
Inspiring future talent
Martin Dickson, Director of Brand and Innovation at Leeds BID, joined an outreach event hosted by Leeds Beckett's Event Management and Tourism and Hospitality Management courses, delivering a guest talk to students from across the region. Drawing on his industry experience, Martin explored careers in event management and the important role placemaking plays in shaping successful destinations.
Enriching the student experience
Leeds International Festival of Ideas is Leeds BID’s flagship event programme, bringing together speakers and audiences for conversations that inform, inspire and challenge. As part of the partnership, Event Management and Tourism and Hospitality students joined the Leeds BID team at Leeds Playhouse for a behind-the-scenes tour during the event build, gaining valuable insight into the planning and delivery of a major city event.
Creating career opportunities
Through Leeds BID’s programme of events and activations, Leeds Beckett students have access to paid work opportunities that provide valuable industry experience. In 2026, 30 students supported the Trivial Pursuits activation, working alongside event professionals across the six-week campaign and developing practical skills in event delivery, customer engagement and operations.
