Shake Yourself Awake
Morning
Anyone who relies on a cup of strong coffee in the morning should try it in smoothie form! Healthy, filling and a great way to start your day.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 4oz strong coffee (cooled)
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- 6oz milk
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp honey
How to make:
- Combine all of the ingredients (except honey) in a blender and blend until smooth and frothy (about 1 minute)
- Taste, and blend in the honey if you’d like the drink to be sweeter
- Divide between two glasses and serve
Lunch Time Boost
Sitting at a desk in the library all morning can suck the life out of you and by lunchtime all your motivation may have faded significantly. So, get a well-needed boost from this super green smoothie and get yourself back on track!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups apple juice
- 2 cups chopped spinach or kale
- 1 apple (unpeeled, cored and chopped)
- ½ Avocado (chopped)
How to make:
- Combine apple juice, spinach, apple and avocado in a blender and puree until smooth (about 1 minute)
- Add water to reach your desired consistency
- Serve and enjoy
Late night treat
Ok so this one isn’t quite as healthy but treat yourself at the end of the day with this tasty, dessert smoothie.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp cocoa mix
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- ¼ cup ice cubes
- 1 frozen banana
- Mini Marshmallows (to garnish)
How to make:
- Blend all of the ingredients together (minus marshmallows) until the consistency is smooth and thick.
- Then, simply pour it out and garnish with marshmallows & chocolate sauce if you fancy it!
Let's face it, trying to eat 5-a-day, every day can get quite tedious. But blending a couple of servings of fruit and veg into your smoothie every day will make it seem much easier!
