Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

But we’re about more than just looking good, it’s all about tasting good!

You’ll love our new coffee

If you’re a coffee lover then we’ve got some great news for your taste buds, we have a new coffee bean for you to enjoy from new manual lever barista machines. Our new bean, Gaia, which is also used in Café Gaia, is a bright and sweet blend which offers a wonderful full and rounded flavour. It’s perfect for lattes, americanos, cappuccinos or espressos.

The new machines will ensure every cup gives you the Gaia blend at its best. The manual process gives our baristas the control to serve a fresh coffee made to perfection. In addition we’ve also got a range of new syrups, cookies, biscotti and shortbreads for those wanting to add a little something to their coffee break.

Delicious new food range

Now you’ve got your coffee sorted, what about the food?

Pick up a pastry - Our existing pastry range is growing, offering more sweet and savoury pastry options throughout the day.
Lunchtime options – We’ve extended our lunch options at R.B Espresso and we’ll be offering an extended panini range and fresh soups from the counter.
Sweet treats – Working with local Wakefield-based bakers, Artisan Bakes, we’ve expanded our current cake options and will be adding new flavours, vegan options and cakes with no gluten containing ingredients (look out for the NGCI labels).
