Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Revamping the Rose Bowl and Tiki Coffee Shop

Over Christmas we’re delighted to announce we will start work on an exciting makeover of the Rose Bowl Food Court and Tiki Coffee Shop. The revamp will enhance the spaces as a place for our community to work and relax. Alongside new lighting, furniture and flooring, our chefs have been working hard to develop a new food offer in the Rose Bowl Food Court.

Rose Bowl Food Court

The Rose Bowl Food Court will reopen as the Beckett Kitchen from 14 January. As well as a new name, the seating area is being enhanced to offer a greater variety of seating choices. This includes comfy sofas and armchairs and a variety of tables and chairs to cater for every occasion. Beckett Kitchen will also be serving a revamped food offer in the refurbished serving area.

Limited Service from 14 December - 11 January

From the 14 December until the 11 January there will only be a limited service whilst we refurbish the space. Hot and cold food will be served in the Rose Bowl atrium along with barista coffee available from RB Espresso, which will be partially open.

Tiki Coffee Shop

The Tiki Coffee Shop will undergo a revamp over Christmas. The seating area is being improved to offer an enhanced space for our community on Headingley Campus and later in the New Year the serving counters will also be refurbished. During the counter refurbishment the Tiki Coffee Shop will also take on a striking new look, but the same great coffee and name!

Limited service from 14 December

From the 14 December until the 6 January, Tiki Coffee Shop will be closed. Additional seating will be available near the Chicken Shack and barista-style coffee will be served from the Food Court. It will re-open on the 7 January.
