Leeds Law School hosted its annual student social event on 1 October 2024, welcoming current students, recent alumni and staff to an evening of entertainment at the beginning of the new academic year. 

The event included a caricaturist, photo booth and a murder mystery, all taking place within the Broadcasting Place building, home of Leeds Law School. 

Some of the activities were organised by members of Legal Ladies – a new society that seeks to create a supportive community for women within the legal field at Leeds Beckett. Adelina Skarra, President of Legal Ladies, said: “The law school’s community seems to be thriving this academic year. We have seen a real interest in students wanting to get involved with Legal Ladies and looking forward to the opportunities ahead. 

“We look forward to supporting and encouraging our members further to ensure they’re receiving the best outcome for their time.” 

Leeds Law School is home to a vibrant student and staff community and regularly hosts events throughout the academic year, including numerous career development opportunities. The school works closely with legal firms across Leeds, many of which employ Leeds Beckett alumni.

Kate Astall, Senior Lecturer at Leeds Law School, said: “The Law School was proud to welcome back some of our alumni students who were able to share their legal experiences with current students. A lovely evening was had by all.”
