Leeds School of Arts

From Graduation to the Film & TV Industries in less than a year...

... another graduate employment success for the Northern Film School.

Congratulations to Ruth Parker who is currently working on the hugely anticipated Netflix series, Get Even!

Ruth Parker (Left)

Ruth is from Lincoln and joined the Northern Film School in 2015, on the BA (Hons) Filmmaking course to specialise in Production Design, focusing on research within the specialism alongside practical, hands on, prop making and set construction. Through her Production Design tutor, Senior Lecturer, Samantha Babrovskie, and the Northern Film School’s partnership with Film Buddy, Ruth secured professional placements as part of her studies at the NFS, working on Victoria Series 3 (ITV) as prop maker and graphics designer, and BBC mini-series War Of The Worlds, again as a prop maker. This practical work experience stood Ruth in good stead for her final year graduation film, Stake Out, for which she won the NFS Best Production Design award for her studio set design of a cellar (constructed at Prime Studios), which created a chilling back drop, for this dark comedy, genre film.

Ruth graduated in 2018. Less than a year later she has been hired to work on the hugely anticipated Netflix series Get Even, as Art Department Assistant under Production Designer, Dave Bowes, who has also taught at the Northern Film School. This success has also enabled Ruth to be enrolled on the coveted  ScreenSkills Trainee Finder scheme which nurtures new entrants within the HETV and film industries, offering further work and mentoring.
