Leeds School of Arts Alumni recognised in New Year’s Honours
Three graduates from Leeds School of Arts have been acknowledged for their contribution to the fields they work in.
Sharon Watson DL, who completed an MA Performance Works in 2010 and received an Honorary Doctorate from Leeds Beckett in 2019, was awarded an MBE for services to dance. Sharon is an Internationally renowned choreographer, CEO and Principal of Northern School of Contemporary Dance, the longest-standing Artistic Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre, and also serves as a Governor of Leeds Beckett University.
Connor Wilkinson graduated with a BSc (Hons) Creative Music and Sound degree in 2002 and is now Head of eCommerce Data at ASDA. Connor received the Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for services to the economy during Covid-19 due to his work in helping adapt their online shopping services to meet the needs of customers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Anthony Browne, Children’s Laureate from 2009 to 2011, received a CBE for services to Literature. Anthony studied Graphic Design at Leeds College of Art in 1967 and went on to write and illustrate more than 50 children's books. The CBE come in addition to the Hans Christian Andersen Award for literature in 2000.
