If you are buying your own laptop or printer we have some advice on what (and what not to buy). For example ChromeBooks aren't compatible with some of the software you might have to use to take an online assessment.

Make sure all your devices are secure and your identity is protected with a strong password.

You need to set up at least two methods of multi-factor authentication (MFA) to protect your access to university systems and services.

Use Chrome web browser to access MyBeckett and other university systems.

Access your free copies of Microsoft 365 – you can install 5 free copies of Office on your devices and access a wide range of apps.

Log in to at MyBeckett to find your modules and reading lists, access Library and other university services, submit your assignments and much more.

Log in to your student email via MyBeckett.

Install useful apps on your phone: Leeds Beckett App shows your timetable, maps and links to MyBeckett and other useful resources (you need to have logged into MyBeckett before you can log in to this). SEAtTs is used by new level 4 students to record their attendance.

Save your work to OneDrive – you get 1TB of personal storage.

Download other software you need for your course including SPSS.

Use eduroam if you come onto campus to access the university’s Wi-Fi

Get the most out of your home Wi-Fi by reducing the resolution of the videos you stream and rebooting your router every week.

There is lots more information on the IT Support pages of the Library website or you can contact us 24/7 by phone or chat for more help.
