Study Space Developments at Headingley Library
We’re delighted to say that work is currently taking place to improve room JG250. This large open-access study space is located on the second floor of the Headingley Library.
The furbishment work plans to create a light, bright, welcoming modern study space.

The Old JG250
As you can see from the “before” picture below, JG250 is currently used as an IT lab and isn’t a very inspiring setting for your studies!

Plans for the refurbishment - a whole new look!
After consultation with students and staff, our Estates colleagues are redeveloping the room to make it a more welcoming and modern study space. This will include new furniture, paint, carpet, lighting, and even a moss wall to bring in a bit of nature.

The new furniture will accommodate a variety of different preferences and ways to study. This will still include some workstations with PCs or docks so you can attach a laptop to the monitor and keyboards, but also tables for group study and pods for individual study.

While we usually try to carry out any building works in the summer so we don’t disrupt your studies, in this case the project funding deadline is 31 March, so the work is being carried out now. That means that until the room is re-opened, you’ll need to use alternative study spaces in the Library (don’t forget that this includes teaching labs when they’re not timetabled).
We think this disruption will be worth it and we look forward to welcoming you into the new JG250 as soon as we can!
