The seminar was organised and fully funded by the School of Built Environment and Engineering at Leeds Beckett University (LBU). Three researchers from LBU participated: Professor Ian Strange, Professor Chris Gorse, and Professor Parneet Paul.

The aim of this activity was to build links between researchers from LBU, NUST and Pakistani industry by bringing them together in a research seminar format to present their current research topics and findings, and to discuss potential collaborative bids for international research and innovation funding.

Topics discussed include the availability of drinking water sources worldwide, the water quality situation worldwide, and the issues surrounding population growth in developing countries such as Pakistan around the limited supply of natural resources.

The LBU visiting delegation of researchers also met with the Director of NUST’s Research Innovation & Commercialisation Secretariat, Mohammad Faisal; the President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ahmed Hassan Moughal; the Chief Executive Office of the Pakistan Green Building Council, Aqrab Ali Rana; and with WaterAid’s Urban WASH Programme Manager, Touqeer Ahmad Abbasi.”
