A Leeds Bucket List
Hi guys! As I edge toward the end of my final year at Leeds Beckett University, my housemate and I felt the need to create a bucket list.
This list contains things we would like to do but haven't yet, things everyone says you MUST do whilst a student in Leeds and things that are so iconic to student life that we really felt should be experienced for one… last… time.
There are lots of things you will discover very quickly - the things that all first years should experience at least once. But there are also many hidden treasures in Leeds that take many students a while to stumble upon. So, this post will show you a few of these things in the hope that you find them sooner than we did!
1. Somewhere to shop...
Leeds Corn Exchange
Leeds Corn Exchange is architecturally stunning and is home to a whole host of independent shops- a great place for a unique shopping experience. It also holds a great range of events throughout the year.
Victoria Quarter
Home to a multitude of designer shops - this is a great place to take the family when wanting to impress.
Kirkgate Market
You will thank me for this one; Leeds Kirkgate Market is jam-packed with stalls offering almost everything you could need (at really good prices).
2. Somewhere to have a night out...
Call Lane
When you fancy a change from the typical student night, head to Call Lane- one of Leeds' best nights out. Here you will find a variety of bars to suit every different style or music taste. There's even a Hawaiian themed bar that gives out flower garlands hidden above one of the bars.
3. Somewhere to eat...
Granary Wharf
I stumbled upon Granary Wharf by chance, when I was lost sometime in my first year, and what a great find! Think quiet canal sidewalks, delicious restaurants, and great bars. There's even a water taxi here that takes you along the water for free.
4. Somewhere for events...
Millennium Square
As an Events Management student, this post wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Millennium Square- a beautiful events space in the centre of Leeds. At Christmas it's home to our Christkindalmarkt (German Christmas Market) but it also hosts all sorts of incredible events throughout the year, including fun fairs, a big screen for sports matches, concerts and more.
