Five Reasons Leeds Beckett is a Great Place to study

Hi there, my name is Dorothy Edgar and I’m in my final year at Leeds Beckett University. If you’re new to Leeds Beckett or you’re considering studying here in September, here are a few of the great things you can experience when you join the Leeds Beckett Community!

1. The City

First and foremost, Leeds is a great city for students to live and work in! It’s not so big that you get overwhelmed, and it’s not so small that there is a lack of things to do - you get the best of both worlds.

Leeds has excellent facilities to help you further your education such as The Tetley and the Abbey House Museum, as well as places to simply have a good time after a long day at uni such as the Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen.

2. The Students' Union

The team at the Leeds Beckett Student Union has the students’ best interest at heart and work tirelessly to make sure that the students’ experience is as positive as possible.

They’re there to help out with anything student related such as societies, social events and award ceremonies, as well as helping with issues in the wider community such as LGBT+ and womens’ rights campaigns.

Top tip: Read up on the complete Leeds Beckett Student Union site to find out everything that they can help with throughout your time at university.

3. The Staff

One of the first things you’ll notice when you visit or attend Leeds Beckett University is how helpful and informative the staff are! No matter whether you’re visiting for the first time on an Open Day, or you’re looking for a helping hand with studying at the library - everyone you meet is always welcoming, warm and genuinely happy to help.

4. The Events

Fortunately, you won’t have to venture far from the campus to experience some of the best events Leeds has to offer, as many take place right on site!

From guest lectures from high-tier industry professionals to festivals and music events, there’s plenty for you to get stuck into once you start studying at Leeds Beckett.

Top tip: Visit the Leeds Beckett Events page to find out everything that’s going on at the university throughout the year!

5. The Facilities

Leeds Beckett has a great array of facilities that can help you along with your studies and provide hands-on experience that can help you once you graduate.

For example, for the creatives out there, we have a full recording and performing arts studio to help you work on your passions. Whereas, for medical and science students there are laboratories and research facilities that can help you make the most of your analytical skills.

Also, the benefits don’t stop there, Leeds Beckett has it’s own gyms at both City and Headingley campus so that you can work on your fitness and wellbeing in your spare time - what’s not to love?
