Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Hey, I'm Lydia! I am the Global Engagement Officer for the School of Arts and the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing. I am here to help international students with any questions and support them as they settle into Leeds and become a student at Leeds Beckett. I also work with the Global Opportunities team to support students who want to study or volunteer abroad. I like going out for food and love dogs!

What are the five best things about studying in Leeds?

Everything is very close by, you can either walk or get the bus easily anywhere!
It's a big student city, everyone is lovely.
Lots of really nice places to eat.
Lovely parks such as Roundhay and Meanwood.
Lots of cool shops.

Have you been involved in any social activities?

I was only part of one society during my time as a Leeds Beckett student. As part of the Global Village, I have participated in many social events and met loads of new friends from all over the world.

What are your plans for the future?

I really enjoy my role helping and supporting students, so this is definitely something I would like to carry on doing in the future. I studied my undergraduate degree in Sociology and plan to go into a job that combines all the amazing topics I learned with my passion for helping others.

What advice would you give to someone from your country?

University is quite a daunting and nervous time but trust the process! Join as many societies as you can and go to as many events as possible! Keep in touch with your lecturers and keep yourself as organised as possible!!
