Why I decided to study abroad

For me, the decision to study abroad was a big turning point in my life, not only opening up many opportunities but also requiring me to overcome difficult challenges. Although I had a stable career in Vietnam, I still chose to step out of my comfort zone to experience and learn more before the age of 25. I wanted to enrich my knowledge and develop myself more comprehensively. Before studying abroad, I started and ran my own business for 5 years. Choosing the Master of Management and Finance program not only came from my passion but also was an important stepping stone to help me continue to manage and develop my business when I returned. I believe that an international learning environment will help me improve my language skills, expand my relationships and learn more about unique cultures around the world.

Leeds Beckett and their scholarships

When I applied for a master's degree at Leeds Beckett, I boldly applied for a scholarship based on my excellent undergraduate results and was fortunate to receive a £5,000 scholarship. This is the highest scholarship available to international students, and it really means a lot to me. With a support level of up to more than 30%, the financial burden has been somewhat reduced, allowing me to access advanced education without worrying too much about the cost. I am very grateful to Leeds Beckett for creating great opportunities for international students.

Just a few minutes' walk, you can step into the city centre with its ancient streets, a series of bookshops, cosy cafes, and green parks - ideal places for you to relax, read a book, or organize a picnic with friends.

Leeds not only impresses with its architectural beauty but also opens up countless part-time job opportunities, helping students to study and work to save and cover living expenses. In addition, Leeds also has a convenient transportation system and special incentives for students. Bus routes 1, 1B, 6, 8, 27, 8, 56, 19, and 19A all stop right outside the school gates, and are priced at just £1.60. This is a huge plus, making getting around easier than ever.

With a history of more than 190 years, Leeds Beckett University has become one of the leading prestigious universities, famous for its outstanding quality of education. I am really pleased to study the MSc Management and Finance program here, which has given me a challenging but extremely valuable learning journey. The program includes 6 core modules, and in addition to the final essays, I also participated in intense competitions that helped me practice many important skills such as time management, critical thinking, and sharp analysis.

In particular, with specific subjects such as Investment and Corporate Finance, I was equipped with in-depth knowledge of research, data analysis, and professional use of Excel. In addition, the dedicated guidance of experienced lecturers not only helped me master the knowledge but also achieve high academic achievements. This was truly a valuable and unforgettable educational experience.

Leeds Beckett University is not only a place where I meet my fellow students, but also a place where I can connect with friendly colleagues from the Global Village community. As a global ambassador, I regularly participate in exciting events organized by Global Village such as creative colouring sessions, Leeds city tours, cultural exchanges and performances at Global Week.

The Global Village community is not only a place for me to create and learn, but also a second family, bringing a sense of warmth and belonging. Before you start studying at Leeds Beckett University, here is some advice for you: try to maintain a balance between studying and enjoying life as an international student.
