I chose Leeds Beckett University after being offered a scholarship, which was a huge motivation. As I explored the university’s website and social media, I found it informative, trustworthy, and vibrant. The student life on Instagram and TikTok looked active and fun, which really caught my interest. What stood out most for me, however, was the range of sports facilities and resources available. As someone who enjoys staying active and values a healthy lifestyle, I was drawn to Leeds Beckett’s strong focus on sports and wellbeing. It felt like the right environment for both academic growth and personal balance.

The lecturers in the Business School have been incredibly professional and supportive. Many bring real-world industry experience into the classroom, sharing case studies and practical insights that make learning engaging and relatable. They are approachable and always willing to help, whether the guidance is academic or career-related. Their support has been especially valuable as an international student adapting to a new educational system.

One of my favourite modules so far has been Becoming a Master Manager. It introduced me to a variety of management approaches and concepts that I had not encountered before. The module encouraged me to reflect deeply on my personal strengths and past work experiences. It helped me understand myself better as a future manager and gave me valuable insights into how I can grow and succeed in a business environment.

Moving to the UK was a dream come true for me, something I had looked forward to since I was a child. Settling into Leeds had its challenges at first, particularly finding a part-time job while adjusting to a new academic system. But the people I met were incredibly friendly, and the first friends I made in my first week remain close to this day. Many international students I met were eager to connect and support one another, which made settling in both fun and rewarding. Living in Leeds has been an adventure filled with unexpected friendships and personal growth.

Leeds Beckett has supported me in many ways as an international student. From detailed information on the university website to access to academic advisers, library resources, sports activities, and community events, the university makes it easy to settle in and adjust to life in the UK.

Life in Leeds has been one of the best parts of my experience. I love the people, the vibes, and the city itself. Leeds is centrally located, making travel to London or Edinburgh easy, and it offers a welcoming, international community. The city strikes a great balance between excitement and calm, it isn’t as hectic as London, yet still offers plenty of food, entertainment, and cultural experiences. Some of my favourite spots include Hyde Park for relaxing or picnics, Leeds Dock for quiet walks, and SALT Granary Wharf for drinks with a view. Even grocery shopping at Morrisons has become a small but enjoyable part of life here.

Making friends and getting involved in student life is all about showing up. Joining university events during the first weeks helped me meet people, and over time casual chats turned into lasting friendships. It isn’t always about large social gatherings, sometimes small group hangouts, study sessions, or late-night conversations build the strongest connections.

My MBA course has prepared me well for my future career. Coming from an engineering background, it has equipped me with business and financial knowledge I previously lacked, broadening my perspective and opening up opportunities to step into strategic and managerial roles. Alongside my studies, I work as a Global Ambassador for the university, connecting with students from different backgrounds and representing Leeds Beckett at events. This role has strengthened my communication skills and sense of community.

After graduation, I will return to my home country to start my career, thanks to the opportunities my UK master’s degree has opened up. I am grateful for the experiences, skills, and growth I have gained during my time at Leeds Beckett.
