I want you to read this quote and really understand the approach it encouraging towards life. When I got my offer letter from Leeds Beckett University, I was over the moon with joy and immensely excited to try out different opportunities within the university. during my research, I found out about global village and it was fascinating to know within the university, there’s such an incredible part of it led by students.

Receiving support

Global village helps students to settle in Leeds, make new friends, find your space and help in general by running different events throughout the year. From the very first time you land in UK to your international check in, from sessions on academic skills to small trips everything is there on the offer list of global village. While doing my homework before coming to Leeds I got to know about the opportunities of representing university through being a global ambassador and I immediately knew that was my calling.

Becoming a global ambassador

After coming here, I applied and became a global ambassador. I must say global village has given me so many opportunities, memories and friends to cherish for life. I know the feeling of flying to a different country with suitcases filled with dreams and also the feeling of overwhelming and confusion on first couple of months to figure out everything, to settle in with classes, job, assignments, other responsibilities, there’s hardly time to do something for yourself. Global village runs so many fun and diverse events like city walks, buddy events, GV cafes, global village Saturdays etc where you can join and meet new people who shares same interests as you.

I went to my first ever trip in UK with global village to York and that was a marvellous experience for me. The company, the city, guidance everything was perfect. I performed in the Global Showcase and danced the night away with my friends. Every time I participated in any activity in our global village has been very impactful for me, be it being a part of marketing team which is helping me to land good job offers in UK or be it life changing experiences, a team led by and for students really helping the students find their motivation.

Take the leap

I suggest every student wondering if they should book this event or should I go to that session, give it a try. That event, trip even a small gathering like Global Village café or buddy mix, can help you in so many ways, it will open up a new door to know other people and cultures, making new friends, creating new memories or even getting an opportunity that you have been looking for. I would advise to explore and be open to new experiences in this safe place. I hope to see you soon.
