IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
Selection Criteria
We may use selection criteria based on your personal attributes; experience and/or commitment to the area of study. This information will be derived from your personal statement and reference and will only be used if you have met the general entry requirements.
Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to the specialist learning and study-skill resources. You’ll also be assigned an academic advisor to give you tailored feedback and support.

Teaching & Learning
What you'll learn
This module will introduce you to a range of financial accounting concepts and techniques. You'll analyse published financial statements and begin to take greater responsibility for your learning as you develop into a self-managing learner.
Apply and evaluate a range of complex management accounting information techniques and make informed judgements regarding their value.
Evaluate the fundamental concepts and theories of modern finance, identifying how these can be effectively applied in both national and multinational organisations.
Learn to evaluate and explain the need for, and role of, corporate governance in the business environment. You'll also study the role of IT in forensic accounting and fraud detection and the types and incidences of fraud.
Critically evaluate, analyse and interpret contemporary accounting issues in social, environmental, and political contexts. You'll be able to provide solutions to problems with evidence support. This module will help you to understand the development of behavioural finance theories and practices as an alternative perspective to traditional finance theories and practices.
What you'll learn
You will identify, understand, evaluate and compare types of investment for the private investor, including tools, methods and strategies.
Cover topics on decision theory (decision trees and tables), linear programming, regression, time series, portfolio optimisation, discounted cash flow and finance.
Gain a critical understanding of contemporary accounting and financing principles which support business decision-making and financial resourcing in both the private and public sectors.
Develop a strategic organisational perspective. This module will provide the basis for advancement and application of strategic level skills, competencies, and decision-making capability.
Explore a range of entrepreneurship theories and practices, taking an in-depth look at business start-ups, the experiences of entrepreneurs and key aspects of small business management.
Improve your understanding of econometric principles and methods. You'll have the opportunity to apply techniques in the statistical testing of economic theories and models, as well as the forecasting of economic and financial variables.
Choose to carry out an in-depth research project to produce a dissertation or undertake a work-based organisational consultancy project. If you choose the consultancy project, you'll explore a key issue for a client organisation - a small business, public sector organisation, social enterprise etc. You'll focus on a key issue that the client organisation requires intelligence and information to help them tackle and address. In working with the client organisation, you'll develop and negotiate a suitable project involving the collection and analysis of a range of data and information.
Examine the elements, processes and techniques involved in the development and implementation of professional practices for managing for sustainability, responsibility and ethics. You'll evaluate decision-making in complex and dynamic environments and explore the concepts of professional management in a critical way. This module focuses on the practical application of conceptual frameworks for professional management to gain optimum effect.

Your tuition fees cover the cost of registration, tuition, academic supervision, assessments and examinations.

- Library membership, giving access to more than 500,000 printed, multimedia and digital resources
- Access to software, including five free copies of Microsoft Office 365 to install on your PC,laptop and MAC, and access to free high-end software via the Leeds Beckett remote app
- Loan of high-end media equipment to support your studies

- Simulation suite, an on-campus system that will help you to develop effective leadership and group participant skills
- Trading floor that features professional-level equipment including Datastream, a news and information system provided by mass media and information firm Thomson Reuters

However, in some cases there are ‘essential’ additional costs (those that you will be required to meet in addition to your course fee), and/or ‘optional’ additional costs (costs that are not required, but that you might choose to pay). The costs you will need to cover for graduation will include gown hire and guest tickets, and optional extras such as professional photography.
As well as your mobile phone, you will also need access to a desktop computer and/or laptop to complete assignments and access university online services such as MyBeckett, your virtual learning environment. You can book and borrow AV equipment through the media equipment service accessed online via the student hub and located in the library at each campus. Equipment includes: 360 Cameras, iPads, GoPros, MacBooks, portable data projectors, portable projection screens, flipchart stands, remote presenters, digital cameras and camcorders, SLR cameras, speakers, microphones, headphones, headsets, tripods, digital audio recorders and PC/laptops (a laptop loans service is provided on campus in the library on both campuses). Student laptops are also available from the laptop lockers located in the libraries.
