Global trade moves money, goods, and power across borders. On this course, you'll navigate the legal rules that make it work - and the disputes that can disrupt it.
Our LLM International Trade Law equips you with specialist legal acumen and commercial insight to excel on a global level. You'll study the World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, transnational sale of goods, shipping law, and international commercial contracts - including key agreement terms and payment structures. You'll also learn how trade law applies to states, companies, and global trading blocs.
As part of this course, you'll:
Your learning will be interactive and career-focused, empowering you to tackle complex legal challenges, navigate cross-border regulations, and develop innovative solutions to real-world markets.
Shape your expertise
You'll build your knowledge through dynamic core modules and tailor your studies with an optional module, ensuring your learning matches your career ambitions. Whether you want to explore digital trade and competition law, international human rights and governance, or gain experience through a professional practice placement, you'll secure a competitive advantage in the global market.
Connect with industry
Leeds Law School has strong connections with local, regional, and national organisations. These include commercial and corporate law firms in Leeds, and various governmental departments, such as the Government Legal Department, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Department for Work and Pensions, and HM Treasury. You'll have opportunities to network with potential employers during your LLM study.
Get involved with career-building activities
Throughout the academic year, we organise many career and employability activities for Leeds Law School students. You can volunteer with Support Through Court, helping litigants in person navigate the court system; provide public legal education through Street Law; or attend guest lectures from practicing legal professionals. These activities enable you to develop vital legal skills and experience for life after your LLM.
