About Unity Club

The original Leeds Club was founded in the 1840s moving to Abion Place in the 1850s from where it operated as a private members club until it closed in 2013. As a former Ambassador for the club, Keith Madeley found a new location to continue with a central place where businesses, particularly SMEs, could meet business associates and discuss ideas in an appropriate setting. The Trinity Club Leeds was opened by the then Lord Mayor of Leeds in offices adjacent to Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane in 2014 with Keith Madeley as Founder and Chair.

Shortly after, the club moved to Cloth Hall Court and was hosted by Leeds Beckett University, thus fulfilling the need to build a solid relationship between education and business, and was renamed the Unity Club. The University then opened The Knowledge Exchange at their Rose Bowl building which became the home for the Club. The Patron is the Bishop of Leeds and Joint Presidents are Peter Slee, Vice Chancellor of LBU together with Lee-J Walker, Joint Managing Director of TheBusinessDesk.

About Cones Books

Helping Corporate UK Educate Children,’ Author Chris Madeley works with industries and commercial organisations, to bring an endless supply of informative, educational yet fun stories to children. The companies benefit by enhancing their Social Value Programme and use the Cones books as part of their submissions for tenders etc. The Cones books now qualify for certification by CSR Accreditation with certificates for their Social Value agenda.

Through the medium of the humble traffic cone, these beautifully illustrated books make children aware of all the fantastic jobs that are needed to make the world work, how these jobs are available for all and there is something for everyone. Children learn to keep safe, are encouraged to embrace integration, difference, inclusivity, diversity, tolerance, friendship, all in a fun way. These beautifully illustrated books are designed for children to have fun, while at the same time learning important life lessons. This strategy gives children the lessons in context of various industries whilst enjoying fun with the different Cone characters, their Guardians and other Cones they meet.
