Adrian (Ady) Hinchliffe is a successful British diving coach who guided Jack Laugher and Chris Mears to Team GB’s first-ever Olympic diving gold medal in the 3m synchronised event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He also coached Jack Laugher to silver in the individual 3m event, marking a historic Games for British diving.
Ady studied BA (Hons) Human Movement Studies at Leeds Metropolitan University, graduating in 1994, before beginning his coaching career as Senior Diving Coach for the City of Leeds Diving Training Scheme. He went on to serve as Head Coach at City of Leeds Diving Club for over 20 years, developing it into one of the country’s leading performance centres.
Following his Olympic success, Ady received multiple coaching honours, including Diving Coach of the Year at the British Swimming Awards and the Mussabini Medal in 2016. He later moved to Australia, where he is Head Coach and Program Director for Diving Australia, leading the national programme.
