Peter Latham MBE is a former physical education teacher who dedicated his career to developing school sport and supporting young people through education. Peter worked as a PE teacher in the Leeds area, most notably associated with Prince Henry’s Grammar School, where he played a key role in developing school sport and building strong links with local clubs. Past pupils such as Danny Care, England rugby union player, and Lizzie Deignan MBE (née Armitstead) have recognised the role Peter played in facilitating opportunities and supporting their development as young athletes in education.
In recognition of his services to education and sport, Peter was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honours. His lasting impact on school and community sport has made him a respected figure in West Yorkshire, known for his commitment to youth development and lifelong participation in sport.
