Leeds Beckett in Stonewall top 100
Our University comes in at number 64 this year and a number of other education organisations have joined Leeds Beckett in the table – 13 of the top 100 are now universities.
Leeds Beckett first entered the table at 117 two years ago, and was ranked 51st last year.
The Stonewall Top 100 Employers are the best performing employers on Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index 2016, an annual audit of workplace culture for lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff.
Now in its 12th year, the list celebrates the pioneering efforts of leading organisations to create inclusive workplaces.
Andrew Disbury, Director of the International Office and Equality and Diversity Champion at Leeds Beckett, said: “I’m delighted that our University’s commitment to equality and diversity has been recognised once again in the Stonewall top 100. This achievement is really testament to the dedication of colleagues across our University who work hard to ensure it continues to be an inclusive place to work. Congratulations go to all involved including those who lead our Equality and Diversity forums in particular.”
Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive, Stonewall added: “Leeds Beckett University and all of those employers that secured a place in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2016 list performed fantastically this year. We have had more submissions than ever before and so making the list is a huge achievement. I’d like to thank all of those organisations for their continued efforts to ensure that their lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to work and are accepted without exception.”
