Running into fitness for the New Year
However, how can you make sure you get the benefits of running without the injuries?
Dr Peter Francis, Senior Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Science Medicine/Therapy, from Leeds Beckett University’s School of Clinical and Applied Science, will be discussing this and all things running at an event at the end of the month.
Taking place at Leeds Beckett’s Rose Bowl on Wednesday 31 January 2018 from 6-8pm, Dr Francis will talk about the most common running injuries, whether there is an optimum running technique or the perfect shoes, amongst other aspects of running.
Peter speaks from professional as well as personal experience as a distance runner. He is the Director of the Sport and Exercise ‘Musculoskeletal Health Research Group’. Since 2011, he has held a performance consultancy role with the Athletics Association of Ireland, which involves coach education and providing sports science and medicine support on training camps abroad and coach education at home.
