First time at the top for BUCS Super Rugby team
A dogged display from LBU saw them reach the top of the BUCS Super Rugby summit for the first time in the competition’s four-year history, with their 27-0 defeat of seventh placed Swansea.
The rearranged match, initially due to take place earlier in the season, was initially postponed due to the Swansea squad contracting the mumps.
Mumps were, however, the least of the Welsh side’s worries as they struggled in the conditions to match the home side.
LBU’s outside centre Chaz Dixon put in a Man of the Match display, proving to be just as dangerous in defence as he was in attack, while star wing man Harry Robinson claimed four tries, the most ever by a player in a BUCS Super Rugby fixture.
Jonny Keh rounded off the day with another touchdown to give LBU an important bonus point victory that sees them move three points clear of second placed Durham, who are still to face LBU this year.
The Super Rugby team will now enjoy an extended 10 day turnaround before their next fixture, where they will face Hartpury at Leeds Beckett’s Headingley Campus on Wednesday 29 January, kick-off 14:00.
