Acclaimed fashion designer among Inside Out lecture series’ speakers

The Inside Out programme, hosted by the University’s School of Art, Architecture & Design runs from Thursday 5 February until Thursday 26 March, will feature eight high profile industry speakers. All of the lectures are free, open to the public and will be held from 1-2pm in Lecture Theatre A of the Rose Bowl at City Centre Campus. No booking is required.
Peter Dixon, Senior Lecturer in the University's School of AAD, who has organised the series, commented: “Inside Out offers historical, theoretical and critical analyses of the arts, architecture and design, and creates a platform for internationally recognised practitioners to engage with our School. We have a fantastic line up of speakers for 2015, and we’d encourage members of the public and anyone with an interest in the arts to attend the sessions, all of which will conclude with an opportunity to ask the speaker questions.”
Jane’s designs have been photographed by Rankin and Nick Knight, and featured in high end magazines such as Vogue, GQ, I-D and Dazed and Confused. Nominated for the prestigious ‘Material Innovation Award’ supported by the Clothworkers Foundation, she was also an ‘Emerging Designer’ finalist at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards in 2013. She will deliver her guest lecture at Leeds Beckett on Thursday 5 March.
The series will kick off this Thursday, with a talk from Lisa Le Feuvre, the Curator and Head of Sculpture Studies at the Leeds-based Henry Moore Institute. A centre for the study of sculpture, the institute is an award-winning exhibition venue, research centre, library and sculpture archive. It hosts a year-round programme of exhibitions, conferences and lectures, as well as developing research and publications, to expand the understanding of historical and contemporary sculpture.
The remaining speakers in the series are Carlos Bayod, architect and Head of Laser Scanning at Madrid-based company FACTUM Arte, on Thursday 12 February; Jon Jeffrey, a graphic designer and founding partner of Bibliothèque, an independent design studio based in London, and was the most awarded design agency in 2013, on Thursday 19 February; Chris Lefteri, a designer and author who has published eight books on design and material innovation, which have been translated into five languages, on Thursday 26 February; Lionel Fanshawe, Managing Director and Principal Landscape Architect at ‘terra firma Consultancy’ on Thursday 12 March; Michael England, an award winning multi-disciplinary artist whose skills are sought from clients such as the Sony Music, the BBC and Channel 4, on Thursday 19 March and Graeme Brooker, an author and founder of Interior Educators on Thursday March 26.
