Nishad Chaughule, who studied MA Filmmaking and graduated in 2013, is an independent filmmaker and producer. He produced the short film 'Border Patrol' with his fellow students including Peter Baumann, pictured above, while studying at our University – the film went on to win an Academy Award in the Student Foreign Language Film category. The students’ short film was shot in Germany and tells a story of two German border force officers, Karl and Franz, who, whilst working on patrol on the Austrian border of Germany, come across a dead body hanging in the woods.
Nishad has written, produced and directed several short films, which have been screened in film festivals all over the world. He was also shortlisted for the prestigious Grierson Trust Documentary Award in 2013 for 'Make Me Louder', a documentary he directed.
Nishad now works with various film studios and production houses in Mumbai, India, and the UK. He also founded 'Man on Mars - Film Distribution and Creative Network' to help new and upcoming filmmakers.
